I specialise in helping women alleviate mid life health issues including any stage of the menopause. I'm also a registered canine shiatsu practitioner, I use the gentle touch of shiatsu combined with the theory of pharmacognosy, where dogs choose essential oils to help them resolve issues in the gut, mobility pain and health associated anxiety (not behavourial). The magic of shiatsu found me in 1989 and I have been fascinated ever since. I am constantly impressed by the elegance and effectiveness of this wonderful healing art. I was fortunate to work with some exceptional teachers, notably Elaine Liechti, Clifford Andrews and Pauline Sasaki, and have enjoyed being a teacher myself since 1993. My book, The Extended Meridians of Zen Shiatsu came out in 2017. With a background in yoga, qi gong, reiki, nutrition and eastern philosophy I have also trained in hypnotherap and EFT, and enjoy a busy full-time practice in Glasgow.

My journey with Shiatsu began as a result of on-going pain from a whiplash injury received some ten years before. I was a keen yoga and Tai Chi student as this gave me some relief but not on a long term basis. I started to accept the pain and restricted movement within my neck and shoulders until a chance conversation with a Shiatsu Practitioner. After a series of treatments and I began to feel a sense of ease and understanding of my own body and wanted to know more. I knew without a doubt that I wanted to share this bodywork and its benefits with others. I enrolled and graduated from the Shiatsu College, Manchester branch in 2009. I am a registered practitioner with the Shiatsu Society. After graduating I have continued my professional development, undertaking workshops by leading bodywork practitioners. In 2013, I began my Shiatsu Shin Tai journey with Kindy Kaur, a leading teacher of Shin Tai in the UK. Since then I have regularly attended workshops learning the principles of Shin Tai. I see Shin Tai as a practice to enable us to get in touch with our own true self and see our own true potential. My work is now predominately influenced by Shin Tai. I work with a variety of Shin Tai techniques which include elements of Shiatsu, fascial unwinding, stillness, Central Channel release, passive structural adjustments, Cranio-Sacral techniques, and chakra work.

I’d like to help you to feel more comfortable in your body; to have more energy for what you want to do in life; and to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.  I’d like you to be able to enjoy life even more and live your life to the full. I came to shiatsu through an interest in oriental health practices and energy work which started with a t’ai chi class about 30 years ago.  I was amazed at how quickly and easily I could transform from stressed and tired to calm and energised.  Later I discovered shiatsu which added the extra dimension of touch and after 3 years training I qualified as a shiatsu practitioner in June 2005. It is now my full time and fulfilling career.    My own chronic health challenges came to a head in 2009. This was the start of the next chapter of my journey to understand, from the inside out, how I could best support and nurture my own health.  This experience has brought a renewed motivation and deeper level to the shiatsu treatments I offer to others.  I practise Shiatsu Shintai, a form of shiatsu developed by Saul Goodman with an emphasis on clearing stress from your body and stimulating your body’s own healing potential. I also teach a Qigong class outside in the woods from Spring to Autumn. I specialise in working with stress and chronic health issues (from the niggles to the biggies) that are affecting someone’s quality of life.  Too many people struggle when they don’t have to.

I love offering shiatsu and have been practising shiatsu since the late 1980's . Over the years I have gained wide experience in supporting peoples health and wellbeing and have enjoyed working with people of all ages and in widely varying health circumstances. I have  developed particular skills in supporting people around cancer and have worked within a cancer care in the NHS for many years. I have also enjoyed working with women to support fertility and during pregnancy and  completed a foundation level in Doula training . In 2013 I decided to train in Qigong and feel this practice has enriched my shiatsu. I have loved sharing shiatsu skills within the community and have taught many self help classes using acupressure, shiatsu and movement .
