The philosophy behind shiatsu and its holistic approach to the body/mind has always fascinated me and continues to do so. Over the last 40 years I have explored many therapeutic modalities that have become part of my practise and treatment i.e.Dance/Movement therapy, BodyMind Centreing and various forms of healing. I have been teaching for over 20 years and taught shiatsu at the BSS for 15 of those. My other passion is anatomy and physiology and I currently teach this with an integrative and experiential approach.

Martin Knowles
I've been working as a Zen-Shiatsu therapist since 2002, and work in the Lune valley, on campus at Lancaster University and make home visits locally.Shiatsu gives my patients the space and time to be listened to, a chance to feel welcomed and supported, and encouragement to accept and change. I am forever surprised at how Shiatsu can be so simple and yet so profound and feel blessed to be able to share Shiatsu with people along their health journeys. I teach Tai Chi and Chi Kung (Qigong) in Brookhouse, and follow healthcare research, particularly anxiety, stress and depression.
