I trained at the Bristol School of Shiatsu and stayed on as a teaching assistant after completing the three-year diploma, continuing to learn through teaching and practice. My path to shiatsu grew from earlier studies in counselling, coaching, holistic massage, and meditation—but it was the relational approach at the heart of Bristol’s teaching that really spoke to me. For me, shiatsu isn’t a one-size-fits-all treatment—it can be whatever the client needs it to be. Sometimes that means offering deep rest and nourishment when those things are hard to come by in daily life. Other times, it might mean supporting someone to find strength, clarity, or motivation during a time of change or challenge. I see the work as a collaboration—listening closely, responding with care, and always aiming to support autonomy, resilience, and each person’s natural creativity and capacity for healing. I offer Shiatsu at The Wye Valley Wellness Centre in Tintern. At my home, I offer sessions that begin with time in the sauna—a chance to sit alone in the warmth and bring attention to whatever part of life is asking for support. It’s a way of gently applying heat to where energy is needed most—like an alchemical process of percolation and preparation. Afterwards, shiatsu offers space to soften, integrate, and receive care in a grounding and nurturing setting.

I was born and raised in East Germany. I have 25 years of experience in biomedical research, both as a researcher and in associated roles. I have worked in academia, industry, and the NHS. For many years I have been drawn to Eastern Medicine, Taiji, and Qigong. More recently I have had the time and opportunity to delve deeper. I first came across Shiatsu in 2005 when I was pregnant with my first child. I was going through a difficult time and received a Shiatsu treatment from my cousin. The treatment was wonderfully comforting and soothing. It always stayed with me. I moved to Scotland in 2009 and have lived here ever since. I turned back to Shiatsu in 2018 after I had suffered a burn out. Having felt the mental, emotional, and physical benefits, I decided to give Shiatsu a go. I enrolled with the Aberdeen School of Shiatsu in 2020 and completed my training in 2024. What I love about shiatsu is that it is accessible, non-judgmental, holistic, caring, safe, and emphatic. I offer shiatsu to women of all ages in my home studio in Aberdeen.

My first contact with Shiatsu was in an introductory workshop back in 2003 at the Zen Shiatsu school here in London. # That day changed my life forever because on that morning I was feeling really sad, I was crying all the way going from Brentford, where I used to live, to Old Street, where the workshop was. I was grieving after a breakup, situation that was really hard for me to handle emotionally, I felt really sad and I can say now that my teacher Megan also felt my gloomy vibe. She asked me to lay in the futon placed in the middle of the room, on supine ( facing up). I was so excited and curious!, I laid there and she placed her hands on my solar plexus area, in the middle of my chest, she stayed there touching me with her fingertips and a serene smile around 5 minutes, I remember me, with my eyes closed and trying to open my eyes a little to see what she was doing, when she finished, all the sadness I was feeling was gone! It was like a ver heavy rock was lifted off me, I couldn’t believe it, and on top of it I felt very very happy instead, it was joy, the joy of relief.  This is how I learnt that emotions live in our organs, and I learnt too that I prefer to have a experience in order to learn something. It is so different! and you never forget it. You embody it, the same way trauma gets embodied when you go through it.  Funnily enough I suffered most of my life with asthma and respiratory problems, I don’t anymore after studying and practicing Chinese medicine through Shiatsu.  I am now a Movement Shiatsu practitioner and teacher, Shamanic Practitioner, Tantra Practitioner, NLP practitioner, Taoism practitioner from the Universal Tao from Mantak Chia , Reiki Practitioner, Moon Mother from Miranda Grey ®️Womb Blessing system and Sports massage therapist always evolving and developing my passion. After 8 years my dad fell ill and during his last days I took care of him, opening my heart to our vulnerability when our bodies don’t function as usual, this situation helped me to then work with people with disabilities here in London UK where I currently live with my family.

Charlie Grange

Professional (MrSS)

With a background in swimming and yoga, Charlie has spent over 15 years working with the human body. Her curious and inquisitive nature has led to extensive and continuous study of physiology and biomedical science, including a first class honours degree in Immunology, and accreditation in Swedish Massage and Sports & Remedial Massage. Charlie‘s shiatsu journey began when she collaborated with Aberdeen School of Shiatsu to host a series of Yoga Assisting workshops working with mindful touch. Recognising that shiatsu offered a whole new perspective on the body and healing she signed up for the 3 year course. Since graduating Charlie has joined Laura as a director at the Rosemount Centre for Complementary Therapies and offers her treatments from there too. Charlie draws on her experience teaching yoga to help people connect with their body and breath; fusing this with an intuitive touch to help bring ease, balance and stability to her clients.

The way I work in Shiatsu attends to the intersection of physical change and emotional change, and encouraging clients to feel into their emotional body. My focus is on offering support, empathy, and acceptance. The Shiatsu I do is about quality of touch, connection and attentive presence. I am mindful of the way our bodies express the complex stories of our life, and am sensitive to the emotions and meanings that are present in the body.

I am a fully qualified Shiatsu and Shiatsu Shin Tai Practitioner, worked in private practice for 7 years in Reigate, Surrey and just have recently moved to Bournemouth and started to practice in Shiva Shakti – Well Being Yoga & Meditation in Pokesdown. Through my extensive training and busy practice I have given hundreds of treatments working with people of all ages. Because Shiatsu Therapy is a safe and supportive therapy it has been a pleasure to witness how it can support the healing of people through their illnesses and ailments. I provide a safe environment, where I can facilitate an opportunity for your body to relax and settle, which in return will allow you to let go of stresses so that deeper healing can take place. Everyone is welcome. My training has allowed me to specialise in working with women with hormonal problems (like fertility and menopause) and people with trauma, stress, chronic fatigue, digestive issues and mobility problems and many more.
