When I first began studying Shiatsu I spent most of my time trying to figure out how Shiatsu works...4 years later that hasn’t really changed. Every learning curve I experience in the world of Shiatsu opens up more questions and even more possibilities. It’s this limitless potential that I love so much. How as we keep learning about connection, points, fascia, the breath and the 'quiet', the invisible conversation that happens between two energies, that it's here we find new ways of working and just as importantly, developing ourselves as human beings and practitioners. Living and working in a city my original plan was to hold a solo practitioner clinic space but as we start to come out of the pandemic I feel more and more strongly that Shiatsu is something to be shared as much as possible. A practise space is still an important part of my practise however, I’ve begun to expand on that to see where else I can take the gift of Shiatsu. It’s baby steps at the moment; with publishing some short Grass Roots Shiatsu videos on social media, and making connections in my local community with the intention of creating a hub of likeminded people, to promote wellbeing in their preferred media/expertise. It’s unclear how this will develop but the potential is really lovely and the journey is fun! I love practising Shiatsu because not only is it lovely that the client benefits from the session but I feel better too; lifted, lightened, clearer and I only hope that my clients derive as much from a session as I do. The general feedback I have, especially during my 2 years volunteering at a centre for vulnerable women, is that I tended to zonk people out, sending them to ‘Shiatsu land’. Giving space, allowing for rest, repair, and finding some peace, even if just for an hour. This is what I’d like to continue to do, to provide a safe space for people to come to, be acknowledged, supported, listened to energetically, so that they can start (or continue) taking the steps they need to feel a little bit better and be able to take more joy from everyday life. My name is Dan and I built The Shiatsu Bus Mobile Back Pain Clinic in 2018 to provide a professional and convenient Home visit service to the people of Derbyshire. Although my client's age ranges from 14-85 years old, I specialise in helping the over 50's to overcome things like back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and sleep disturbance and I use structural re-alignment techniques, gentle stretches, and rotations to bring relief to these and a whole host of other complaints. What is Shiatsu and what are its main benefits? Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and gentle bodywork that originated in Japan and follows the Traditional Oriental Medical approach to anatomy and the system of meridians and pressure points found throughout the body.It is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person - not just with the physical body, but also with the psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person too. The Shiatsu Bus is a purpose-built Mobile Clinic that completely takes the time hassle out of visiting a therapist by coming to your home. With privacy glass and a log burner on board, the space inside the bus is cozy and serene and an emphasis on the client experience is the number one priority. As a former chef, I have a special interest in Food Energetics and can offer advice and tips on how to make small lifestyle changes that, over time, have a big impact on health and wellbeing. If you're in Derbyshire and are searching for a bodywork clinic with a dedicated over-50's specialist, why not get in touch to see how The Shiatsu Bus Mobile Back Pain Clinic can help you to achieve your goals? As well as Home Visits, The Shiatsu Bus is also available for Events and I provide Corporate Wellness packages upon request. www.TheShiatsuBus.co.uk [email protected] Phone: 07832 614 855

I studied with the Bristol School of Shiatsu and the London branch of the Shiatsu College and practice in Monmouthshire and surrounding areas of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. I also offer somatic movement workshops enabling participants to move and respond creatively to natural landscapes in small group settings and I love to creatively explore Qigong inspired movement in landscape. I share Shiatsu more widely through a range of grassroots events in my region, so more people may experience the healing benefits of this healing form.

I received my 1st treatment from my father when I was 6 years old. He was studying shiatsu practiced his new skills diligent on his children. When I was 18, I completed a 3 week intensive introduction training in Antwerp, Belgium. But it was not until I was 32 when my life suddenly turned upside down with a burn out on top, that I started to receive and study shiatsu more in depth along with my macrobiotic training in Devon. Shiatsu was 1 of the few therapies my body could cope and relax with. With all the stresses in my system winding down, I reconnected with my own inner Qi and a sense of Silence - Resilience within. In my macro training it was the Shiatsu I loved most, that wordless communication between receiver and giver. Soon I had people asking me for sessions and supporting me to carry on with this healing art. So I did, maybe not the most conventional way from A to Z in 3 years. But rather a slow unfolding from childhood till now and still more is unfolding.
Tanya Khara
I was first introduced to Shiatsu back in 1990 with a foundations course that opened my eyes to the amazing power of touch. After living and working overseas as a nutritionist running aid and development programmes for many years I returned to the UK in 2011 and realised this was now my chance to explore my interest in this healing art further. I’ve been practicing Zen Shiatsu since 2012 and qualified as a Shiatsu therapist in December 2015 from the Shiatsu College, London. Since qualifying I assisted at the college helping to support and inspire new students of Shiatsu for a further 4 years. I am registered with the Shiatsu Society www.shiatsusociety.org and fully insured to practice in the UK. I currently run sessions at Helen Douglas House, a children's hospice in Oxford offering Shiatsu for staff and parents of children attending the hospice. My private practice is based in East Oxford from my customised space ‘The Willow Shed’ where i run sessions on Fridays and on Saturday mornings most weeks. Do please be in touch to discuss your needs and/or to schedule a session.

I have been a registered Integrative Medicine Therapist since 2003 and commenced training in Shiatsu in 2018. Over the years I’ve helped many people throughout the world suffering from disorders caused by traumatic events, repetitive injuries, body and mind dissociations, helping them recover and restore health. As an Integrative Medicine Therapist and Shiatsu student, I developed specialism in anxiety, panic attacks, depression, long-covid symptoms, scar work as well as supporting people through times of big transition such bereavement, separation/divorce, career change and significant changes in the health, including menopause. Through my dedicated professional and volunteer work in clinical settings, I have also been supporting those who face chronic or life-threatening conditions, neurological and mental disorders, homelessness as well supporting my cancer patients from the point of diagnosis, post-surgery and throughout radio- and chemotherapy. My practice is based on the foundation that everyone is valuable and deserving of access to complementary therapies. I support my clients with the utmost compassion, sensitivity and understanding, making them feel valued and supported and am always searching for new solutions from conventional and complementary medicine to deliver a top-quality treatment. I feel honoured to be able to continue that work as a Shiatsu practitioner. My extended shiatsu courses and previous professional trainings allow me to combine shiatsu with cupping, moxa, scar work, craniosacral therapy and breathing work if needed. I’m based in London and I practice in English and Polish.
Sarah Oldfield
Sarah has practiced in the healing arts of the East since her late teens. She started to understand the mind - body relationship with Chi Gong and T'ai Chi. At this time Sarah also began the practice and study of Buddhism and Buddhist meditation. Sarah considers this training the foundation stone in her life and Shiatsu Therapy practice. "The quickest path to change is to first, connect with awareness to the body, this brings you into the present moment. It is from this place of presence that real change can happen in the body and mind". Sarah 2025 After 7 years of study and practice Sarah went on pilgrimage to India, Nepal, Malaysia and Thailand. She found a new home and spiritual community with the White Tara School of healing arts in Sydney, Australia. Here, Sarah continued her exploration of the body mind relationship with a more dynamic form of healing martial arts called Pancha Tan Mantra. In this practice she was introduced to the Chinese 5 Elements and how they interplay in the body and effect all aspects of the human experience. Buddhist practice with mantra meditation and ancestral healing retreats took Sarah on a deep personal journey over 7 years. Qualifying as a teacher of Pancha Tan Mantra and leading retreats was the culmination of this journey. During this time Sarah was drawn to Shiatsu Therapy as a compasssionate expression of the inner work she was doing. It was time to find a modality, where this understaning of how the body mind work together, could be shared and benefit others. Qualifying in 2007 in Sydney, Sarah began working with older people in aged care facilities and in thecorporate sector as well as beginning her own private practice.
