Kate Handley
I completed my Shiatsu Diploma with the Bristol School of Shiatsu in early 2023. I love working as a Shiatsu practitioner. I am convinced of its therapeutic benefits and marvel at the surprising realisations and ‘magic’ that can come out of Shiatsu practice. I approach every Shiatsu treatment with an open mind, with no set agenda and no assumptions. Alongside practising Shiatsu, I work as a carer, visiting people in their homes. When not working, I am busy at home with 2 teenage children.

I graduated from the Devon School of Shiatsu in 2008, I studied Reiki during that time and since have also trained in aspects of Shamanic Assemblage point work. I have spent my time as a practitioner studying around trauma, stress and mental health as I had a Chronic stress disorder from childhood that Shiatsu, Reiki and Assemblage point work all helped in part to heal. At the moment i am studying Daoist Neigong with the Lotus School run by Damo Mitchell which I am finding is blending together all my modalities into one cohesive practice. I have worked with the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust at Treliske for over 4 years within their Critical Care department offering Shiatsu to staff and patients to good success, so much so we are collecting data to build a study seeing how Shiatsu can benefit Critically ill patients. The CQC also mentioned the work in 2018 report, stating that Shiatsu came within one of the outstanding parts of the units functions.

Helen Bradbury
I came across Shiatsu Therapy when I was working as a performer. As an actor I was always seeking embodiment, presence and free flowing creativity. Bodywork fostered all these things and challenged me to go even further by being courageous in my relationships and learning to inhabit my most heartfelt self. Its a journey that is ongoing! In learning about the Taoist and Zen philosophies together with the Chinese Theory of the Five Elements, I found a beautiful language that expresses our deep interconnection with the cycles of nature and ways to think beyond our contemporary detachment, that are essentially healing. Deepening my knowledge through studying Biodynamics has brought me more stillness & more ways to listen to subtle expressions of life. Marrying an ancient art and a 20th Century art of touch has given me flexibility and depth in my practice, guided by many experienced and compassionate teachers at Bristol School of Shiatsu and Body College London. Both arts teach that your body is intelligent, powerful and capable of transformation. With the help of others, you are capable of changing the way you see yourself and the world around you. Through receiving Shiatsu with Transformational Dialogue and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, I rediscovered the vitality, joy and connection to life that had been buried in me, while I was endlessly re-living a reaction to events in the past. I learned the meaning of engaging fully with my real life and relationships. This is what I aim to share with others through my practice.
