While training as a Shiatsu teacher in 1997, she met Kishi Akinobu (1949-2012), a master of Shiatsu who had changed the name of his work to Sei-ki Soho in recognition of the diversion of his approach from that of his teachers. From this point on, Alice worked only with Kishi, co-authoring a book with him: Sei-ki: Life in Resonance, the Secret Art of Shiatsu 2011 Singing Dragon. She has been offering workshops in Sei-ki for over 20 years, see Surrenderwork for events internationally. She was Chair of the Shiatsu Society (UK) 2016-18. Teresa Hadland
I started my Shiatsu studies in 1980 when a university student. Then receiving Shiatsu helped me recover from a serious illness and then set me on course to train as a therapist myself. I studied in Japan and Australia and then with Sonia Moriceau and Healing Shiatsu in the UK. I set up as a practitioner in 1988. I subsequently became a Shiatsu teacher in 1998 and have been practising and teaching ever since. Over the years, I have added an understanding of Western Anatomy and Physiology to my orthodox Shiatsu training and so provide a bridge between the Eastern and Western approaches to the body. My approach is to involve the client as much as possible in his/her own healing, to help him/her to understand what is going on and what he/she can do, alongside what I do, to help themselves. This empowers and gives confidence in how they can be more proactive in their healing. I find this way of working more effective and more long-lasting in its results. I am happy to work with any conditions, any age and anyone who needs help in any way - whether with their physical or emotional self. I also teach regular Inner Qigong classes in Frome.

Melanie Ward
Based in Chagford, on Dartmoor in Devon, I am a Shiatsu Practitioner and Shadow Work Coach and Group Facilitator and have been a member of the Shiatsu Society since 2005. I specialise in supporting people through times of big transition, such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, career changes and menopause. Major transitions in life can sometimes seem to knock us off our path, leaving us feeling lost or just 'not quite ourselves'. I believe that, with the right support, times of transition can be embraced as 'rites of passage'; an opportunity to be 're-born' with a deeper understanding of ourselves and a new sense of purpose, passion and appetite for life. I gained my Diploma in Shiatsu after completing the 3-year training with the Bristol School of Shiatsu, one of the longest established Shiatsu schools in the UK. I have also completed post-graduate study with the school, and was a teaching assistant with the school for many years. My experience includes working as a shiatsu practitioner for charities Naomi House, a mother and baby home for women with a history of street sex work; and the Rosie Crane Trust for bereaved parents. I work with clients in person and online, and would be honoured to work with you if you feel called to take the next step on your healing journey. I offer a free half hour no-obligation consultation bookable via my website www.melanieward.co.uk
