I am a fellow of the Shiatsu Society and one of its two Co-Chairs. I qualified as a Shiatsu practitioner in 1999 after studying at the Bristol School.
Before then I was a student of South Wales Yogi, Phillip Jones, "Jones the Breath," who specialised in pranayama, mindfulness and meditation as well as Hatha Yoga.
I studied at post graduate level with Keith Phillips, Nicola Pooley (Ley); Bill Palmer and Gabrielle Poli.
I also completed Pamela Hannay's equine shiatsu training and was external assessor at Equine Shiatsu schools in West Sussex, Dundee and Croatia.

I am Co-Chair of the Shiatsu Society in the UK and a passionate advocate of Shiatsu and complementary practices. In the right hands, and when the time is right for you, Shiatsu can be transformative. It is always a safe space where you will be listened too, supported, nurtured and empowered. For most, it is deeply relaxing.
I discovered Shiatsu in 1994 and it quickly became the yin balance to the yang of my busy corporate life as a TV and radio journalist and Director of a successful communications company. Becoming a Shiatsu practitioner was the natural extension of my interest in yoga, Wado-Ryu Karate, pranayama, mindfulness, meditation and running or walking up a lot of mountains. As well as a shiatsu practitioner I am a Hill and Moorland leader with Mountain Training.
When I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2014 I was able to utilise the life skills I had learned during my studies and practice to help me cope and survive. In 2021 I had radical surgery and mercifully have been clear ever since. The experience helped me realise just how powerful nurturing touch, breathing, movement, mindfulness and quiet and still contemplation is to our body, mind and spirit, particularly when faced with major challenges. Spirituality is an important dimension to my Shiatsu.
I am proud to have been on a patient partnership panel with our local NHS Board to help improve the wrap around cancer services they provide, and I am also involved in the running of the Morning Star Hermitage in West Wales which is a sanctuary for cross faith practice built on a unique legacy “beyond opposites”. The previous resident hermit, Sister Ruth Furneaux, was one of my Shiatsu clients for many years up to her death.
I share the knowledge and insights I have gained through all these experiences in my Shiatsu sessions and in classes and workshops at the Hermitage and elsewhere.
A safe space. You will be listened to, really listened too, in every sense through holistic and grounded connection. I will bear witness to who you are and the challenges you face, without judgement. I will work with you to bring balance where there is disharmony and I will support, nurture and empower you if you want to make changes.
