For most of my adult life I have explored our healing potential, weaving together my background in science, yoga, spirituality and the body. Shiatsu touched my soul and introduced me to a path of healing, self discovery, purpose and friendship. My interest in shiatsu began in 1987 whilst working as a Molecular Biologist. I trained with the British School of Shiatsu-Do, Nottingham and London 1994-98 and the same year joined the register of the Shiatsu Society UK and took over as Principal and Director of the Nottingham branch of the BSS (1998 - 2004).  I remain open and curious to the various evolving expressions of shiatsu style and I have had the fortune to study with many inspirational teachers. The main influence behind my work has been Saul Goodman, founder of ShinTai, an evolution of shiatsu and today I teach shiatsu and ShinTai in the UK, Europe and online, mentor practitioners and run a busy shiatsu practice in Nottingham. My passion is to support people to connect with the body's innate wisdom and discover the fullest, most vibrant expression of themselves - in health, creativity, purpose and passion. Empowering them to make a difference in their own lives, those around them and in the world.  I have come to know these people as the “Gentle Warriors”, who dream of a better world, here to create the New Earth.  I enjoy exploring new paradigms of shiatsu and multidimensional healing  and am excited by the possibilities emerging in this ever evolving healing art.

My Shiatsu approach is influenced by my love of free and expressive movement. I marvel at how the gentle form of Shiatsu touch can help us to free old patterns of pain and restriction to reconnect with the feelings of wellness and ease. I have been practising Shiatsu for 30 years. I specialise in cancer care, chronic holding patterns, tension release and relaxation.

Graduating from The Shiatsu College, I trained with all the main teachers who were there from its inception. In 1995 I moved to Newcastle, starting in practice. Shiatsu is a lifetime's occupation - what a joy it is! The best teachers are our client's themselves. Shiatsu is incredibly versatile - it can be the very first step on the road to recovery or a helping hand that makes life more bearable. Shiatsu supports the body's own ability to heal itself, which is profound. I teach and practice both Tai Chi and Qigong, which in turn supports my Shiatsu sessions.

Needing a change of career, I chanced attending a one day shiatsu workshop for complete beginners in Spring 1997.  The following day, I felt so alive that I knew I had to pursue this further.  My life changed completely and by the time I qualified, four and a half years later, I felt so privileged to start earning a living by doing something I enjoyed so much.  This is not to say it was a smooth road - there were many challenges, and still are - but effort was rewarded. Due to an inheritance, I was lucky enough to be able to afford to become a full time student for a couple of years and completed my counselling training in 2000.  In 2002 I started training to teach Chi Kung and later went on to do 2 years advanced chi kung training.  In 2013 I completed the 2 year Craniosacral training.  Over the years since graduating in shiatsu, I have attended workshops with many teachers, all of which have been interesting and useful and this together with many years experience, has led to me developing confidence in my own style of shiatsu.  I work best with people who recognise that stress or emotional issues are major factors in their bodily discomfort, but my chi kung training also enables me to suggest forms to build energy to alleviate physical issues.

I have been studying and practicing Shiatsu for 23 years + now and the depth and quality of treatment gets deeper and more profound with time and experience. Shiatsu is such a holistic treatment that treats body, mind, soul and spirit, physical and emotional. I work very intuitively and relationally with my clients and I really love being able to access new levels of connection and wellbeing with them so that they can get the transformation that they came for. I am continually blown away by the change that can happen in even 1 session. Shiatsu really can change lives.
