Virginia Hill
Virginia Hill FwSS, I discovered Shiatsu when working as a ski instructor in Andorra about 30 years ago. In 2004 I started my shiatsu journey in Glasgow School of Shiatsu where I had the privilege of having Elaine Liechti ,Vicky Smyth and Liz Arundel as my teachers. Weekend courses in Newcastle with Cliff Andrews was my awakening to discover and learning about distal points. I am lucky to work on something I love - Energy! I am fascinated by it. How it flows through the body and how it gets stuck or tangled. I compare the body with a musical instrument and a shiatsu treatment is equivalent to tuning that instrument. I also have a qualification on Myofascial techniques which I use when necessary in my treatments. I worked from home for many years and with the pandemic I moved to a studio at The Yoga Extension, at 5 Newton Terrace Ln Glasgow G3 7PB

Lisa Abbott
Lisa Abbott has been a member of the Shiatsu Society since July 2001. I believe in taking responsibility for my own health and I am passionate about empowering others to do the same through my work as a Holistic Therapist and Wellbeing Coach. I have been a therapist since 1993 and have supported people with their physical and mental health issues since this time. It is every individuals responsibility to look after their own body and mind where possible to enable them to have optimal health and wellbeing to live a healthy fulfilling life. Sometimes you need a little help, I can help you achieve optimum health with Shiatsu, Qigong and the other therapies I practice. As a holistic therapist, I aim not only to treat everyone as an individual but by their symptoms as well, rather than grouping or labelling symptoms as a specific illness. Our minds, emotions and physical bodies are all connected and what affects one will almost surely affect the other. For example, anxiety or stress related to work, may affect any physical system in the body (such as the digestive system, immune system or muscle tension) and may also change a person’s mood causing them to be tearful, irritable or angry. You can see how complex we are and how differently we respond to what life may throw our way which is why it is important to remember that each and every one is unique and has their own healing journey. Based in Thurrock and Hornchurch with select home visit appointments available.

Norma Powell
Hello, I am Norma, I am qualified in Shiatsu Therapy-Massage and an Advanced Reiki Practitioner. I currently see clients suffering from a variety of problems and enjoy working with them to make better health changes and choices. I became passionate about therapy and the benefits after receiving Reiki for stress and anxiety over 17 years ago. I have developed a keen interest in the body and how it works/functions. As my journey continues, I have a fascination for Oriental Medicine - after all, our health is the most important thing we have. My treatment objective is to treat the whole person with an aim to help bring balance and harmony. Shiatsu has a very calming effect and is highly effective in counteracting stress and all the conditions associated with stress. Benefits include improved posture, circulation, and restored energy. Like acupuncture, Shiatsu focuses on balancing the body’s energy. The routine involves the use of acupressure points, stretches, and massage techniques. It is a vitalising and uplifting experience. The sequence promotes a sense of wellbeing because muscles relax, blood circulation is increased, and nerve responses are stimulated and through the body. Shiatsu is a form of massage, carried out whilst fully clothed and without the use of oils. This is an effective treatment that can take place in as little as 15 minutes. It is a fantastic way to relieve tense, aching or cramped muscles in the neck, shoulders, arms and back and to help release any physical or emotional tension. I have been a member of the Shiatsu Society since August 2008.
Rachel Boase
Offering Shiatsu and Shintai bodywork as well as Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. Sessions often integrate these compatible approaches which can also be experienced independently. My aim it to help clients feel valued and present in their body, with greater access to their innate vitality. Receivers often comment on feeling more 'at home' in their body through this interactive and empowering process of deepening into the 'felt sense' through which old patterns of restriction and dysfunction can express and transform. My journey into this field of work began back in the early 1980's in New York City where I met Pamela Hannay, a student of Masunaga. The quality of her touch and listening helped me to understand myself better. Some years later, when back in London, I discovered the East West Centre in Old Street where I learnt about macrobiotics and shiatsu at the Kushi Institute with Michio & Aveline Kushi, and Shizuko Yamamoto and Patrick McCarthy. This evolved into the 3 year professional training program at the British School of Shiatsu-Do who subsequently invited me to teach. Amongst many wonderful teachers, I found particular inspiration with Saul Goodman who greatly influenced my understanding and skills. I have continued Shintai work with him and am also qualified to teach post graduate workshops in Shiatsu Shintai. My practise includes Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (trained with CSTET completed in 1997). In addition my work has been with equines, integrating Equine Craniosacral Therapy (trained ECST), the Masterson Method and an understanding through Equine Shiatsu. Sessions are offered in the quiet village of Chilmark some 12 miles west of Salisbury.
Fiona Carson
Fiona Carson has been a member of the Shiatsu Society since October 2000. Hello, my name is Fiona Carson and I have been working as an holistic health practitioner for 20 years, using zen shiatsu, energy healing and kinesiology to help clients with a wide range of ailments. Every person is different and every session is individually tailored to suit your needs. My mission is to help you feel better on every level, and to support and empower you to connect with your body and your deepest levels of self, in order to heal, grow and thrive. I discovered shiatsu over 20 years ago through a friend who was studying shiatsu and used me to practice on - I couldn't believe how fantastic I felt after a shiatsu session - as if I was floating on air and had been re-assembled into a more fluid but grounded form! I qualified from the European Shiatsu School in 1994, following three year's training and have been fully accredited by the UK Shiatsu Society. I qualified as a kinesiologist in 2019, after completing two years training in Systematic Kinesiology and I am registered with the Kinesiology Association. I have run clinics in Reading, Henley, Marlow, Midgham and London over the past 16 years. I was resident shiatsu therapist at HM Treasury for 5 years, helping staff cope with working in an incredibly stressful environment. I have been running a weekly clinic for NHS staff at The Royal Berks Hospital for the past 7 years . I currently work from clinics in Marlow and Midgham, West Berkshire and at my home in Reading. I am also available to do home visits.

Robin Wagg
Robin Wagg has been a member of the Shiatsu Society since January 1991, specialising in use of the “Seitai Experience” within the context of “Therapeutic Shiatsu”. Seitai means “correct body”, our natural state of physical comfort, mental clarity, emotional stability and overall sense of wellbeing. and represents the key outcomes associated with this approach to physical and energy based treatments. Based upon the “The Relaxation Response” this immersive wellbeing system works to facilitate a deep level of relaxation and initiate healing at both physiological and energetic levels and thereby enable individuals to reconnect with their body at all levels as a means of supporting their return to health and wellbeing. The Seitai Experience, adds an alternative perspective on how to interface with the body through therapeutic touch therapy, providing an integrative approach to holistic therapies that combines both physiological and energetic approaches drawn from western and eastern therapy disciplines. This approach integrates; neuromuscular, myofascial, muscle energy and positional release techniques, stretching and Mobilisations within the context of; Seitai, Shiatsu and Sotai, to provide a unique approach that represents a synthesis of all these disciplines combined to provide a comprehensive approach to treatment. Robin is a Fellow and Instructor with the Shiatsu Society and a Graduate of the International Academy of Remedial Arts (Kokusai Ryojutsu Gakuin) with thirty years of clinical and teaching experience, he is a registered Touch For Health instructor, a Registered Nurse and a former College Lecturer in Complementary Therapies.
