Here are a few of the people we work with…

As old kids on the block (the Shiatsu Society was first established in 1981) and the largest professional association in the UK, we’ve made a few friends, both near and far as we’ve grown:

CNHC – Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, provides a UK Register of Complementary Health practitioners.  They are a voluntary Regulator acting in the public interest and are the only organisation set up with Government support for this purpose. As the leading professional Shiatsu organisation, the Shiatsu Society works with the CNHC acting as a Verifying Organisation (VO) on their behalf. We check the details of practitioners' training, insurance and experience and confirm to the CNHC that our members are eligible for CNHC registration. The Shiatsu Society is the only Shiatsu organisation in the UK to do this.

The Integrated Healthcare Collaborative – As a core member of the largest collaboration of complementary, traditional, and natural healthcare organisations in the world, we work closely with the IHC to raise the profile of Shiatsu and move towards being acknowledged as part of mainstream healthcare.

The Research Council for Complementary Medicine aims to promote research that will widen the availability of and access to safe and effective complementary medicine for patients within the National Health Service in the UK, to help prevent disease and improve patients' health and quality of life.

Shiatsu Schools across the UK – SSUK works with Shiatsu Schools across the UK to set a benchmark for training in Shiatsu. You can find information about Shiatsu schools across the UK here.

European Shiatsu Federation - Building links with Europe, we are a member of the ESF. The principle objective of the ESF is to advance Shiatsu as a healing method throughout Europe and to promote high standards of professional practice.

Balens Insurance Brokers – Balens are specialist Insurance Brokers for Health & Wellbeing Professionals. Our annual membership includes automatic professional indemnity insurance for all advanced student practitioners and professional members.

Grassroots Shiatsu groups – We work with grassroot Shiatsu groups to provide a supportive environment for graduates to practice Shiatsu, helping to raise awareness of the benefits of Shiatsu in local communities.

Specialist equipment providers – Members of the Shiatsu Society receive exclusive discounts from a number of specialist equipment providers and publications. Learn more about our membership benefits here.
