research

Hosted by new Shiatsu Society Director Kathi Bouchaar and Board Co-Chair Barbara Bond, this session focused on how to develop rigorous, credible research to demonstrate Shiatsu's effectiveness in supporting people with various health conditions.

Our goal is to lay the foundations for an evidence-based approach that enhances recognition of Shiatsu by influential bodies, including the Advertising Standards Agency and the NHS, and strengthens Shiatsu's profile within healthcare. As such, we've covered:

  • Current research landscape and recognition state of play.
  • Identifying priority research areas for Shiatsu's effectiveness for specific health conditions and symptoms
  • How to take a strategic approach to Shiatsu research.
  • Next steps of actions towards developing a research culture in the UK.
