wellbeing practitioner

Practitioners who have completed a ratified 1-year training course and want to offer a specific type of treatment can become Bodywork for Wellbeing Practitioners (BWP).

This is a level of qualification that stands alone and allows practitioners to offer treatments that are based on the principles, philosophy and techniques of Shiatsu but are practised for wellbeing and are not aimed at treating problematic conditions.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide practitioners with the option to use some of their skills and knowledge after the first year of study, which covers Shiatsu core theory, anatomy & physiology, practice management, and ethics.

Several ratified schools across the UK offer this option. They use different names, including:

  • Certificate in Holistic Acupressure

  • Certificate in Acupressure for Health & Wellbeing

  • Bodywork for Wellbeing Mentor

To support this process, Shiatsu Society UK offers a dedicated listing and membership option for those eligible to become BWP.
