Needing a change of career, I chanced attending a one day shiatsu workshop for complete beginners in Spring 1997. The following day, I felt so alive that I knew I had to pursue this further. My life changed completely and by the time I qualified, four and a half years later, I felt so privileged to start earning a living by doing something I enjoyed so much. This is not to say it was a smooth road - there were many challenges, and still are - but effort was rewarded.
Due to an inheritance, I was lucky enough to be able to afford to become a full time student for a couple of years and completed my counselling training in 2000. In 2002 I started training to teach Chi Kung and later went on to do 2 years advanced chi kung training. In 2013 I completed the 2 year Craniosacral training.
Over the years since graduating in shiatsu, I have attended workshops with many teachers, all of which have been interesting and useful and this together with many years experience, has led to me developing confidence in my own style of shiatsu. I work best with people who recognise that stress or emotional issues are major factors in their bodily discomfort, but my chi kung training also enables me to suggest forms to build energy to alleviate physical issues.
