Alice started her interest in Shiatsu in 1985 and began training in 1990 with Sonia Moriceau, then the Shiatsu College, London 1991-1994, becoming a Member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (UK) in 1995. While training as a Shiatsu teacher in 1997, she met Kishi Akinobu (1949-2012), a master of Shiatsu who had changed the name of his work to Sei-ki Soho in recognition of the diversion of his approach from that of his teachers. From this point on, Alice worked only with Kishi, co-authoring a book with him: Sei-ki: Life in Resonance, the Secret Art of Shiatsu 2011 Singing Dragon. She has been offering workshops in Sei-ki for over 20 years, see Surrenderwork for events internationally. She was Chair of the Shiatsu Society (UK) 2016-18.
Additionally, Alice has been involved in the work of Charles Berner and Lawrence Noyes also from 1985 and trained in Clearing with Noyes. She wrote the key book about Clearing: Mind Clearing: the key to mindfulness mastery 2016, Jessica Kingsley. She runs a training and has a practice in London and online.
During all this time, Alice has had a parallel career in academia. Completing her PhD in Feminist Philosophy in 1995, she has taught in the Arts and Humanities for the Open University since 1998 and was a Faculty Manager, then Senior Faculty Manager in Arts in London 2004-2014. She became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2014.
