June is Shiatsu Awareness Month (SAM). In 2026 our clear focus will be on helping more people to experience a full Shiatsu treatment for the very first time. We believe that the best way for people to "Get in Touch with Shiatsu" is for them to experience a full session. What better way to do that than via our wonderful, registered Shiatsu practitioners?
Another of our strategic priorities this year is to support our members to promote their services and expand their client network. As such, we are offering a £50 bursary to 60 members who would like to support people who have never experienced a full-length Shiatsu treatment before to discover it for the first time.
The funds must be used to subsidise two Shiatsu treatments (you will discount £25 per session). In exchange, we will require a signed undertaking from each client that they are receiving Shiatsu (a full in-person session) for the first time, and a testimonial from each client (approx. 100 words) in the days following the treatment.
Please note – eligible clients may have experienced short Shiatsu tasters (up to 10 mins long) before, but must never have experienced a full Shiatsu treatment.
If you would like to apply for the bursary, please complete the application form between 23rd February and 8th March 2026. Bursary recipients will be contacted via email by Monday 23rd March, and we will ask you to provide us with an invoice for the bursary amount. The invoice will be paid within 5 working days.
The bursary is available exclusively to current SSUK members. Student Members are eligible to receive the bursary as long as they offer Shiatsu treatments in a supervised setting.
The full-length Shiatsu treatment needs to take place in person by May 25th 2026.
Testimonials will be shared on our social media platforms during Shiatsu Awareness Month in June. The testimonials need to include the full name of the person and the full name of the practitioner who offered the treatments. The testimonials need to be emailed to us by Monday, 25th May 2026.
