For me, receiving Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and restorative experience that leaves me feeling grounded, connected, nourished, and better prepared to meet whatever life brings. The theories and philosophies underpinning Shiatsu align well with my values and inform all aspects of my life. Shiatsu teaches me awareness, clarity, and compassion rooting me in the here and now and equipping me with skills to support a healthful and joyful approach to living.

About

Shiatsu practitioner in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

I have been practicing Shiatsu since completing my three-year professional training at The Shiatsu College Newcastle in 2009. The work has taken me to many settings including offering Shiatsu at Search, a charity serving older people in the west of Newcastle, for several years.

My commitment to Shiatsu stems from a wider interest health and wellbeing developed during my career as a professional dance artist, choreography and lecturer. The Shiatsu practitioner and contemporary dancer share many goals including ease of movement, presence and awareness, and sensitivity in human contact. I am a Senior (SrSS) member of the Shiatsu Society UK

Treatment Approach

A Shiatsu session usually involves the receiver lying on a futon (Japanese mattress) although Shiatsu can be received whilst seated on a chair if this is better for the individual. Working primarily through their hands (or sometimes with their elbows, knees or feet), the practitioner works around the receiver in a systematic manner moving along the energy channels of the body (meridians) and connecting with acupressure points. Relaxed pressure, gentle manipulation and stretches are applied to the legs, torso, arms and head. The receiver remains fully clothed throughout.

My standard session lasts approximately one hour.  The first session will include a consultation concerning the receiver’s health, life style and reasons for choosing to receive Shiatsu.
