Ruth Yates
Shiatsu, Qigong and acupressure in Sheffield
About
My name is Ruth (they/them). I am a Qigong teacher, writer, and Shiatsu practitioner based in Sheffield.
My passion is to give people tools for wellbeing, whether that’s by teaching Qigong moves, giving Shiatsu treatments, or teaching acupressure points for self-care.
My interest in East Asian medicine began over 10 years ago when I first experienced the benefits of acupuncture, while practising Tai chi and Qigong. In 2023, I discovered Shiatsu, a gentle holistic bodywork practice originating in Japan which has its roots in Chinese medicine. I qualified as a Shiatsu practitioner in Summer 2026, and continue my professional development through courses and continued learning.
My background is in teaching English as a foreign language, Speech and Language Therapy in the NHS, and disability in Higher Education.
I am DBS checked, insured and First Aid-trained.
