How to write poetry or give Shiatsu

- A Poem by Hannah Mackay -

First

          let your mind be not a line

          but round like an orange

          or a spiral

          or an egg.

Next

          catch a glimpse from the corner of your eye

          sensing connections,

          an imaginary space.

Then

          set yourself in motion

          you won’t find your way from a standing start.

Open to evolving form

find the structure

and the rhythm

and the pace.

Let your curiosity be captivated

follow a tingle,

or a picture

or a word.

Drop into the space of creation

sit back

let this world unfurl.

Seek out satisfaction

the movement towards closure;

the ripples start to settle;

completion;

and it’s done.
