NEWS!

I have now started practising Acupuncture in Hastings at the very beautiful Wellington Centre in Wellington Square www.thewellingtoncentre.com

For the month of February, I will be offering £10 discounts on all treatments at this clinic.  This discount is valid if you book in February but we cannot fit you in until March (as we're running out of space)!  If you cannot make the Thursday morning times, contact me directly as I can sometimes arrange other days.  I will be adding another regular session after Easter.

I use a blend of Shiatsu and Acupuncture depending on your needs and how you feel about needles!  You can opt to receive acupressure rather than needling.

Shiatsu is my first love and has formed the core of my practice. It is a powerful form of bodywork developed in Japan and based on Chinese Medicine principles.  I now blend it with acupuncture.  Thus treatment may involve

  • insertion of fine needles
  • deep acupressure
  • joint mobilisation and yoga-like stretches
  • muscle balancing & spine realignment
  • lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, emotional strategies)

I also use:

  • Seitai (structural & nervous system realignment)
  • Cupping (used to move tension & clear toxins)
  • Moxa (heat treatment)

I aim to achieve long-term change.  It is human nature to stay where we feel comfortable, both physically and emotionally.  Unfortunately this "norm" may be unhealthy and involve bad posture, chronic stress etc.  It is hard to change consciously but by realigning and relaxing clients at a very deep level, I aim to re-educate the bodymind to establish a healthy norm.

Because shiatsu/acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions.  It can be safely used in pregnancy, including during the first trimester.

Personally, I am very interested in investigating the effect of treatment on stress-related symptoms & chronic pain.  Because of my background in family planning health promotion , I also have a particular interest in pregnancy & menstrual issues - eventually I hope to carry out research in these areas.

Your first consultation will include a full assessment.  Please wear loose clothing - you may need to remove some clothing for acupuncture.  The best results are achieved by having a course of treatments but you can also come for occasional sessions when you feel the need.
