The Codes of Conduct & Ethics and Guidelines for Practice give the Society a professional framework for its members to adhere to.

The Codes lay out what the Society believes is appropriate behaviour and practice for its members when dealing with clients, students and other members of the Society.   The Codes ensure that the general public is protected by a high standard of professionalism.

Every member of the Shiatsu Society has to sign an annual declaration stating that they will abide by the Code of Conduct & Ethics and Guidelines for Practice.  If you would like a copy of the codes please contact us. The Codes can also be obtained from the Downloads page.

Please note: Although our codes are very thorough they only cover Shiatsu practitioners who are members of the Shiatsu Society (UK), which is one of several organisations representing practitioners in the UK.  At the moment there are no regulations in place to ensure that practitioners have to be registered to a membership body in order to practice

Complaints Procedure

The Society has a thorough and transparent complaints procedure for dealing with complaints against its members. This procedure is available from the Downloads page.

If you have a complaint:

a) contact the appropriate membership body for them, or,
b) if they are not a member or another body put you in touch with an organisation who can help you with your complaint against the practitioner.
