What do the qualifications mean?

MRSS
Members on the Register of Professional Practitioners of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS) have been assessed for their professionalism and clinical expertise by a panel by the Society’s indepdendent panel of practitioners and teachers of Shiatsu or have undertaken a post graduate year.

Only practitioners who have successfully completed these assessment procedures, and meet the general criteria set out below, are included on this Register of Professional Practitioners of the Shiatsu Society and allowed to use the letters MRSS after their name.

MRSS practitioners will have ‘MRSS’ stated on their listings.  
MRSS(t) indicates the practitioner is training to be a teacher
MRSS(T) indicates the practitioner is also a Teacher of Shiatsu.

Graduate Listing
Members on the Graduate listing are those who hold diplomas from the Society’s recognised schools, follow three years of training, but who have not yet passed the Society’s independent assessment, or undertaken a Post Graduate Year, leading to MRSS.

General Criteria
Members on the Register or Graduate Listing of the Shiatsu Society are;

  • current members of the Society,
  • provide a signed agreement to abide by the Shiatsu Society's Codes of Conduct and Ethics
  • are covered by professional indemnity insurance to a level set by the Society and their insurers (currently £2.5 m).

This list is to enable members of the public to find a qualified practitioner in their area. Please do not attempt to use it as a marketing tool or mailing list. Methods of advertising to members can be obtained from the Shiatsu Society Office.

OVERSEAS CONTACTS

DISCLAIMER:   This is a list of ex MRSS members and not an official Register of practitioners working abroad.  The list above are people who were MRSS practitioner members of the Shiatsu Society who have now emigrated.  Because they have moved abroad they are no longer members, therefore, we cannot guarantee that they have a licence to practise in their new country of residence or are insured, as we have no jurisdiction outside the UK.  We strongly advise that you check they are insured and also recommend they be members of their new country’s Shiatsu professional association.
