Meeting of Friends (MOF)
This is an informal meeting open to all members. It gives you a chance
to discuss the AGM/EGM proposals so when you come to voting you are much
clearer about what you are voting on. The MOF is also a chance to have informal
chats about any issues you may have and meet new/old friends. The
AGM/EGM is not the place for a discussion though specific questions regarding
their reports can be put to the relevant directors. It is the MOF
where broader discussions can take place.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The AGM is a formal meeting open to all members and is a legal requirement
for the Society to enable it to operate as a company and as such there are
certain laws that we must follow. We always send you a booklet at
least a month before the meeting stating what is on the agenda and details
of any proposals that need voting on. All proposals at the AGM must
be put forward by Directors of the Society, even if they are organised and
worked on by members working in sub-committees and so on. We need
a minimum number of 3% of the membership to attend in order to be legally
quorate and be able to hold the meeting and vote on the proposals on the
agenda, otherwise it must be reconvened. The AGM is also where
you vote for new Board members and revised fees. The AGM is held annually,
usually in May and must be held within 15 months of the
previous one.. Without a quorate AGM it is extremely difficult for the Society
to operate legally, if at all.
Visit the Members Downloads page to view the 2009 AGM booklet giving details of the timetable, Directors Reports, Proposals and EGM. If you intend to come to the AGM then please let us know. All AGM attendees will be posted an AGM booklet.
Member feedback from the AGM held in Scotland
"Thank you to all involved in organizing the Society AGM in Scotland. A really
enjoyable event (how’s that for an AGM?!) and well worth the trip. It was relaxed,
focused, friendly: with time for giving and receiving Shiatsu, sharing food, seeing
familiar faces and new, sharing ideas as a group and still getting the AGM business
done. The room was beautifully set up, with candles and oil burners, and seating on
cushions on the floor, or on chairs.
The meditation start led by Prassanavira set a compassionate, open tone to the day, the
Committee reports were efficiently presented. Martin Julich through the Chi Kung and
Shiatsu sections enabled everyone to have some, as always very welcome, hands on
work. To me it was everything a Shiatsu AGM should be!

Extraordinary General
Meeting (EGM)
The EGM is a formal meeting open to all members and this is where ordinary
members can organise and put forward proposals of their own. They
have to be sent to the Office, however, it is not so formal as the
AGM. The EGM is a chance for members to add things on to the agenda,
which can then be briefly discussed and voted on. The membership
can mandate the Directors to make changes. The EGM is usually held
on the same day as the AGM in May.
For further clarification of the meetings please see the Rules & Regulations.
Please DO support the future meetings, as the Society cannot
legally function without them!
